We need a new (insert tool name here)

I hear that phrase pretty often. It is usually followed by a list of all the projects that could be completed if we just had a certain tool. Our latest addition to John's tool collection is a table saw. Okay, so the circular saw was the newest edition, but the table saw was the fanciest new addition. His last table saw burned up sometime last summer, so he needed a new one. Since we purchased this fine piece of machinery, I have been promised new shelving systems in all the closets. All I have to do now is find the money for the materials. Somewhere behind top soil, sod, and a tree house the closets will be decked out. I can hardly wait. Plus, as an added bonus, John gets a new toy. He is so spoiled.

Tree House Fun

John began the process of building the kids a tree house. We have lived here for almost two years, and he has been talking about building one since we moved in. We finally decided it was time to get started. As John was plotting his design and calculating materials needed, the April issue of Popular Mechanics arrived. What timing. The photo above is from said issue of Popular Mechanics. As soon as he saw it, John knew that would be our tree house. Our original design had support posts at each of the four corners. He was excited to find this design since it will not require supports to be on the ground. He was dreading mowing around the supports. Anyway, with the design chosen we made some progress this weekend. The floor is complete. John has drawn out the rest of the plans and made a list of supplies, so now we just need to incorporate it into the next couple months budget. Hopefully it will make the cut, but it may get shifted to June. I think Aprils fun money is going for top soil, and May for Sod. So far June is still available. I hope the tree house wins out. If not, the kids are having fun with just the platform. They're pretty easy to please.

Socks the declawed cat

I had to pick Socks up from the Vet this morning. She is now spayed and declawed. We decided replacing our furniture was pointless unless we declawed the cat. Now the challenge is to keep her from jumping up on everything while her feet heal. So far I'm not doing a very good job. When we got home she ate a little and then started running around trying to get the bandages off her feet. I hope she feels better soon and doesn't have complications.

15 years later

I don't have a picture from our wedding to upload with me so I went back a couple more years. Today is fifteen years since I married my best friend and we started this adventure together. I can honestly say this has been a wonderful fifteen years and it continues to get better. I love you Kristina!
