Munchkins playing in the Snow

I reluctantly let the kids go out and play. I wasn't planning to since it is so muddy, but we compromised. We went out, but we stayed on the deck. They had a blast making snowballs. Joshua even made a pseudo snowman.

I tried to get a picture of the water on our drive. The yard next to us looks like a small lake. It is a bit difficult to make out but there is a little waterfall behind our mailbox where the water is pouring over the drive.

Snow?

This morning as I was getting ready to leave for work, John told me to be careful on our driveway. I asked if it was icy and he said no, just under a couple inches of water. The water is still rising. The drainage ditch that runs under our drive is full and so the water is running over the drive. To add to the fun it started snowing around 8 this morning.

John called me at work around 10:30 to ask if I was leaving work early. Jacob's teacher had called him to ask if Jacob should ride the bus since the school would close at 11:30. Life would have been easier had they just cancelled school today. I hate it when they close the schools early. Anyway, it took me about 40 minutes to get home. That isn't too bad since it usually takes about 20 minutes. The roads were passable, but very slick in places. I saw several wrecks. I hate driving on slick roads. I was so relieved when I pulled into my drive, and even more relieved when the kids bus arrived safely. The kids are playing Wii sports and I am trying to make the most of being home bound. The kids are begging to go out and play in the mess.
At least, the trees look pretty against the wintry backdrop.

In non weather news, Jacob pulled a tooth on Tuesday night. He didn't even need any help. I didn't know he was working on pulling it until he ran into the kitchen with it in his hand. He was pretty proud that he pulled it on his own, and it didn't even hurt.

Mississippi Weather

I received a call around 5:30 to let me know they cancelled the cub scout meeting tonight. There is a pretty severe storm making its way into central Mississippi. They have mentioned several cancellations on the news. They don't mess around with thunderstorms in Mississippi. So far we haven't seen a thing, but it looks like it is getting bad north of here. Guess where my husband is? At church which is about 20 miles north of here. He had a council meeting tonight that started at six. It will probably last at least a couple of hours. Hopefully, the worst of the weather will be over before he starts home.

As much as I don't like thunderstorms, I have enjoyed not having to get out tonight. The kids and I had dinner, and they are in the process of getting ready for bed. It is nice to not be rushing around. Tomorrow will be their final Wednesday night play rehearsal. We have a dress rehearsal Saturday morning and the play will be Sunday night. I can hardly wait to see it.
I finally bought Christmas cards last night. Tonight I went through my card list and realized I need another box of cards. We are planning to get a picture sometime between now and Monday. Maybe the kids and dog will be more cooperative this year. It only took us about five tries to get the above picture last year. We will try to add the cat to the picture, but no promises. Wish me luck.

Christmas Party

My friend Scott emailed me a picture his wife took at the company Christmas party. I just thought I would share. It isn't often that I dress up like a girl.

Another Weekend Ends

It is not Christmas at our house until John has gotten on the roof.
I am not ready for tomorrow to be Monday. This has been a productive weekend, but I forgot to plan in time to rest. Yesterday afternoon, we got the Christmas lights up. I think the house is still missing something. We may need to add some wreaths or something.

Last night we attended my work Christmas party. It was nice to have a night out without kids. The party itself was pretty boring, but at least John got to meet the people I work with.
Today John and the boys cleared all the leaves from the deck and driveway. It looks really nice. Hopefully, since most of the leaves have already fallen, it will stay clear for a day or two. While they had fun clearing leaves I ironed clothes. I spend way too much time ironing.Once the leaves where piled up the boys had fun playing. John also put the seats back in the truck today. That should make it easier for him to drive to work tomorrow.
This morning at church our Sunday school class decided we should have a Christmas party. It was brought up between class and church. We fit in well with our class. No need to plan ahead. Anyway an emergency meeting was called for after church to pick a date and make the initial plans. The meeting had more people than we had in class. It was kind of funny. Anyway, our party will be in two weeks. It should be fun. I have to spend this week finalizing all the plans.
John and the boys are taking some time to play Wii sports right now. They are golfing at the moment. I need to get busy making dinner. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Busy Saturday

John does not relax well. He always has lots of projects lined up for the weekends. This morning he put blocks under the slats on our bed. The idea is to provide more support in the middle so our mattress won't sag. A couple of weeks ago when the bed frame broke we put the mattress and box springs on the floor while the frame was being repaired. It was actually more comfortable to sleep on while it was like that. Due to this realization John decided we needed more support under the slats. I told him it seems a bit redneck to have our bed on blocks. Oh well, I guess we should embrace our inner redneck.

After the bed was complete he moved on to the garage. He cleaned and organized and even did a little decorating. He put our personalized plates from Ohio on the wall. The N BEYND plate was on his Infiniti. The URNDWAY plate was on the truck. It should be read U R N D Way. We know we are nerds.

Once the garage was cleaned and organized he pulled the truck in to tighten a hose that was leaking. Once that was done, he pulled out the seats so he could clean the carpets. The broken heater core had leaked on them so it needed done. He actually pulled the carpet up on the side where the leak was because it was wet underneath the carpet. We are hoping it will dry out in time to put the seats back in tomorrow.

While cleaning the garage he found our box of outdoor Christmas lights. I have a feeling our house will have lights before the weekend is over.

One of My Favorite Songs

I was out in the garage with the boys this morning and John was listening to our Biker Sunday CD from the Grove City Church of the Nazarene. "We Will Ride" was playing. It is probably one of my favorite songs ever. I just wanted to share.

I hope this works. I am still learning how this blog thing works.
