All is Well

Just an update on the surgery today. As far as I can tell everything went well. Only time will tell if it was a success. I haven't wanted to bore anyone with the details but I will say that it was a fairly simple procedure that will hopefully prevent a hysterectomy. It is called an endometrial ablation. John got a little confused about the name and told the girls at work it was a uterine obliteration. I told him that sounded a bit more invasive. We should know within the next few months if it was worth it. Sometimes it isn't fun being a girl.
John and I did have some laughs this morning. He of course made the joke about not wasting the semi-private room. Actually, the staging area I was in before surgery was not at all private. They had four areas divided by curtains, so you could hear everything being said. Also, the curtains didn't close very tightly, so I felt a little conspicuous as I was changing into the lovely hospital gown. They did have really cozy heated blankets. That may have been my favorite part.
Anyway, all went well. I slept most of the day but I am feeling pretty good now. About the only issues I have had are dizziness and a little bit of nausea. I guess that is just from the anesthesia. John took the boys to cub scouts this evening. They are going to go by the pharmacy on the way home to pick up my pain medicine. I don't know if I am going to need it. I really feel like I could go to work tomorrow, but the doctor said I shouldn't. I'm not supposed to drive for at least 24 hours. He did say Thursday would be okay. Hopefully, I can take advantage of my day at home tomorrow and get some cleaning done. I have lots of ironing to do and all the floors could use a good mopping.
Terri, thanks for your good wishes and prayers . I know I am very fortunate to have such great friends. This morning as soon as we got in the car, John just looked at me and said, "Do you want to pray before we go?" I love that man. I was a bit nervous about things, but knowing that there were so many people praying for me was a comfort. The verse that seems to constantly be on my mind these last few months is found in I Thessalonians 5:16 "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." I told my ladies prayer group that this verse just sums up so many things for me. God's will for my life is really pretty simple.

i'm glad to hear all is well-you were in my thoughts today.

take the day off and read in bed all day-surgery is a total excuse for a day off!

Thank you Danielle. I am going to find some time to relax today, but I need to get at least a few things done around the house. I may hold off on mopping, but the laundry can not wait. I already made my bed to avoid the temptation of just crawling back into it.

I'm so glad everything went well. You are right...sometimes it's not fun to be a girl, but 99.9% of the time it is! I love being a Momma, a wife and a happy homemaker!

I love reading your blog and getting a glimpse into your life. I miss you more than you will ever know. We may not be neighbors, but you are never far in my heart.

Hey Gator, I am glad we get to keep up this way. I was reading your blog today and remembering the fun times we had back in the day. I am thankful that our friendship has endured even though our lives have taken us far from each other. Some of my best memories are of our early days as mommies. I'm glad we were able to share the adventure.
